Just in case anyone is looking, it couldn't hurt to use a thread to list some of the better hosting deals around. :)

Free

http://www.4gigs.com - 15 MB, FTP, CGI, ad-free.

Free CFM (http://www.cfm-resources.com/apply.cfm?signup=free) - 30 MB FTP, ASP, ColdFusion, banner is optional

http://www.brinkster.com - 30 MB, 500 MB transfer, ASP, ad-free

http://www.freeasphost.co.uk - 20 MB, 250 MB transfer, FTP, ASP, ad-free

Low cost paid hosts

http://www.cyberwings.com - Can't believe they're still in business, considering the prices.

http://www.discount-hosting.com - Very cheap, but reliable, good if you don't need any support and don't mind webalizer stats in French. I've used them for a couple of sites. Their ugly page design probably scares away most people. :D

http://www.myacen.com - Larger scale hosting, seems to have a good reputation. They have everything, with service.

http://www.myqth.com - I use 'em for one site, they don't have everything but it's space and bandwidth cheap.

http://www.tera-byte.com - They seem popular, decent prices.

Those are just ones I happen to have formed favorable opinions of somehow, I'm sure there are plenty of other good ones.

http://www.4gigs.com is one I also liked to. I had used it to put some files there since my computer was starting to get really crowded. But I liked the service they gave even if it was free. I also liked http://www.tera-byte.com they have good customer service and there prices aren't too bad either. Just though I would recommend those two since you had named them. I would also like to recommend:

http://www.bluejeep.com - they offer good services and great customer service. only took them less then a hour to receive a response from then when I had problems with my web site. Offer some good services for good prices mentioned here:

I signed up with Cyberwings.com. The pricing is incredible, and after reading their info I can see why they're still in business. They make most of their money by educating others in doing what they're doing with Technology.

Purchased the PLESK 5 plan, my total cost for the annual fee was $7.80. I even registered my domain with them for less than $10 for one year.

I think the thing that impressed me most (other than the enormous list of features), is they have an online chat room where you can seek help in real time.

Agorahosting says "unlimited" all over the place. I don't think there can be such a thing as a good unlimited host.

u r right. u can never know how they (hosting company) will react when u force their servers by extreme bw. actually u can but u dont wanna :) they better indicate nubmers instead of saying "unlimited" it would be much more realistic.

a note on myacen~ I am currently hosted with Myacen for my personal site, and I can say that they have fallen in quality alot lately. They seem to be going through those growing pains that all of the new hosts go through, and they are not fairing so well. In the last two months, I would say they have gone down at least 3 or 4 times, once for almost a week.

I can advice you to check my hosting company (agorahosting.com). their service quality is good and they dont seem to be going down on this quality.

most ppl is thinking like you.. they scare and hesitate but I can not understand whats wrong with offering unlimited. they just dont put limits fro clients. would it better if they put low limits and charge the clients when they exceed these limits.?
I dont believe that this word is so scary. I believe they are just oppurtunity.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to develop my website. I'm leaning toward Dreamweaver. I also need a shopping cart or the ability to order online. Do all hosting sites support all apps? Or is that a specific question I need to ask?

Dreamweaver is an html editor, not any sort of server application. Any server will be able to host anything created with DW since it is simply a html page.

emancipation, in 4 out of your 5 posts, you seem to be pushing for angorahosting.....interesting to say the least.

Be very captious before signing up with an "unlimited" host as unlimited is impossible.

It is better that hosts provide you with your limits so you know where you stand, each "unlimited" host will know the limits they are prepared to let their clients reach however you will not find out until you get burned.

Wow, maybe they realized that no one could make any money selling that package then. :D

A few weeks ago Cyberwings said they were only going to be offering reseller plans now, not indended for individual sites.
