View Full Version : extended domain names
i have recently seen an outburst of these name.second.com type domain names.
How could I go about getting these?
I currently am the webmaster of a site that, I believe, would benfit from giving people the ability to type in stuff like:
wilderness.sprucelake.org
or
school.sprucelake.org
or something of the sort.
Any help???
Those are subdomains. If you can create them for your site or not depends on your host... does your host support subdomains?

Cyberwings.com does support subdomains. Infact you get at least one subdomain with any hosting plan.
Note: Paul posted a link to cyberwings (amongst other free/low cost hosts) which is how I learned about cyberwings.
Thanks guys.
marion,
You are suggesting that you have to pay for these subdomains. True?

Last night I requested the second subdomain I wanted, and CW didn't charge me for it.
It was also setup within the hour.
Youre dealling with CW exclusivly for your subdomains. Right? Do you know anything about how other hosts do things?
if ur host offers unlimited subdomains (and there are so many that offer that) for free to boot.
u can add sub-domains just as fast as u can type through your account control panel!!! shocking but true ;)
