Valuehost.co.uk seems to offer what I'm looking for, but performing a
search hasn't brought up anything regarding people's experiences.
Anyone have any experience using this host?
Thanks for your help!

A little late for a reply, but I am making a concerted effort to warn everyone of the lack of support you get from valuehost.
I purchased a Virtual package from them a year ago, and it seems whenever I need them to do anything they never respond to emails, support tickets, phone calls, faxes, however you may choose to contact them.
Telephone number simply dont work anymore (Number has not been recognised) - and when they did the voicemail was always full, and it was VERY rarely anwered.
Fax, well good luck.
Email support, tried this way too, never had a response after numerous email support requests. Eventually after about 3 days of trying to contact them I finally managed to get them on the phone. And they tell me "Oh, you must use the support ticketing for fast support", hmmm, so support@valuehost.co.uk is just a gimmick.
Tried ticketing. Their promiss is they will respond within 20minutes. Its been 24hours now and no response. Again, phone calls, emails, numerous support tickets, and no response, even a post on the forums which I know they moderate.
All I want to do is transfer in a domain name, thats all.
This is by no means the first time I have had trouble either. Their servers are consistantly slow, and MySQL databases are intemittenting simply not working. I have also had this trouble transferring in other domain names.
Would NOT recommend ANYONE uses Valuehost.
BTW. Their forums are full of good testimonials. (They moderate the posts before allowing them to go public).

I have to agree with Richard about the VH service.
Slow is even a friendly statement, and beside that they not read the question in the email it seems, but just reply standard or auto pilot.
About the servers, I not have comments and of course they can speed up (but even than I want faster servers) but in common all is working well. Database I not use really and what I use seems ok.
The package is a good deal but when you need support, even the forum died some time ago.
Reason to moderate the forum is experiences in the past. Moderating is done by some good willing guy who is not working for VH. VH is on the forum as well.
When there are no problems, you will have a good package. Beware for technical issues, because than Richard explained well.
I have to tell that when you manage to contact them by phone, the problem is solved quickly.
Hope this helps.

Well, when valuehost.co.uk was working, yeah, it was a good deal. The problem is they just kept on messing up.
The latest problem so far is the loss of a raid HD. They've gone and lost 500 websites, including 5 of mine. It's been a week now and the files are still not back online. I don't think I'll ever see the files again to tell you the truth.
Their reason ----------------------------------
DETAILS:
UK5 server has problems with HDD/RAID.
Engineers is still troubleshooting.
UPDATES:
FreeBSD can't start due to RAID storage is faulty.
We're moving all accounts to another server.
DB(MySQL) server/storage is working.
It will take some time to restore the RAID.
Please upload all your files to ftp again (new server).
You don't need to re-install your mysql databases.
UPDATES:
All accounts are online on the new server.
Please use your old ftp to re-upload your files.
We'll try to restore old RAID data as soon as possible.
We do apologise for the inconvenience caused.
------------------------------------------
Valuehost.co.uk is held by utransit.com but if you go to their website, the 'latest news' dates back to october 2004. Ever heard of such an out-of-date hosting company?
The same with valuehost's forum. People are asking questions about what is happening to this RAID problem. The posts keep on disappearing. Luckily, the last posted is directly accessible (http://www.hostforum.co.uk/showthread.php?p=17749#post17749)
But if you enter the category, no new posts in 3 months...
Their serverstat.co.uk was stopped for UK5 server as soon as problems occured. They've been down for one whole week now. Surely serverstat.co.uk should be reporting 75% service for this month, not the 98.782 % (it does say Last Check: September 24, 2005 at 2:38 PM).
Well... this whole nonsense, it's for you to see to believe.
Many people have moved away from valuehost.co.uk and it's a big blow to their business. But with such bad service, one should really consider what you're paying for.

I'm having massive problems with Valuehost at the moment.
My server says it's stopped. It went down last Thursday and has been down ever since. I can't log in to the online control panel and I'm not getting any support. I have tried emailing and phoning them every day and am getting nowhere! There's simply nothing I can do about it and all this time I'm paying for a service that I'm not getting!
Has anyone got any advise or tips on how to contact them? None of their online support tickiting system seems to be working and I'm totally out of ideas. The phone number goes straight to fax, and I've sent loads of faxes to no avail!
Please help by emailing me any advice to clubaleno@yahoo.co.uk
