What is Indexing

Hello friends,

What is Indexing......?

vettrivel 02-05-2018 04:53 AM

In general, indexing refers to the organization of data according to a specific schema or plan. In IT, the term has various similar uses including, among other things, making information more presentable and accessible.

In layman's terms, indexing is the process of adding webpages into Google search. Depending upon which meta tag you used (index or NO-index), Google will crawl and index your pages. A no-index tag means that that page will not be added into the web search's index.

Indexing starts when the crawling process gets over during a search. Google uses crawling to collect pages relevant to the search queries, and creates index that includes specific words, or search terms and their locations.

In order for your site's contents to be included in the results of your custom search engine, they need to be included in the Google index. The Google index is similar to an index in a library, which lists information about all the books the library has available. However, instead of books, the Google index lists all of the webpages that Google knows about. When Google visits your site, it detects new and updated pages and updates the Google index.

Index. An index is another name for the database used by a search engine. Indexes contain the information on all the websites that Google (or any other search engine) was able to find. If a website is not in a search engine's index, users will not be able to find it.

an index is a systematic arrangement of entries designed to enable users to locate information in a document. The process of creating an index is called indexing, and a person who does it is called an indexer.”

search engines collect and keep web pages in its database. When we search with queries
search engine responds to us through this database. not only displays any particular information related keyword also displays the other information.
So those webpages or info saved in the search engine database we call them indexed webpages or web addresses and this process is so called “Indexing”
indexing operation is performed through crawlers also known as Search bots. They visit each website, present on the web and collect information from websites. But, somewhile all the pages of a website are not get indexed by crawlers causing technical issues like the poor-quality content or duplicate content, etc. this kind of issues in Google webmaster tool or also known as Google search console tool. sitemap is also another best option for getting fast index by search engine crawlers. Just create XML sitemap of the website and submit it to the Search engine console.

One common type of indexing in IT is called "search engine indexing." Here, IT tools aggregate and interpret search engine data, again, to streamline data retrieval. This type of indexing is also sometimes called Web indexing. IT experts explain that indexing helps to make searches less labor intensive — without an index
