When certain pages within your website compete with each other to rank the webpages for a certain keyword such a situation is called as keyword cannibalization. The solution for this problem is, instead of linking different page with a singular keyword, link back all the pages to an original page using canonical source for singular keyword

What is keyword cannibalization

How to solve Keyword Cannibalization. Keyword Cannibalization is the main work in seo.
Keyword and key phrase cannibalization happens when you “cannibalize” your own position for a keyword by having several webpages on your website concentrating on that keyword. If you can catch the first few areas with several webpages, more energy to you! But, in most situations, it’s a challenging task to even create web the first page. If you do create it to web the first page, wouldn’t you like it to be a web page that is important to conversions? That’s why it’s important to concentrate your website so that only one (maybe two) webpages is targeted and enhanced for a particular keyword.
As simple mortals, it may appear sensible to us that a website is regarded extremely appropriate for a keyword if it’s used across a site’s webpages. A online look for motor doesn’t weight your keyword position across your website as a whole. A online look for motor crawl crawls your website and looks for a PAGE that is most appropriate to the specified keyword. When you have several webpages for the online look for motor to choose from, it’s compelled to select a web page to come back as the most appropriate one from your website (the one that will appear maximum in look for for your site). What if the site it choices isn’t the best for conversions? You already have a large number of webpages to contend against. Why create it more complicated on yourself by calming your prospective position energy across webpages of your own site?

Duplicate content/keyword cannibalization situation though. Let's say you have a page about a specific service. You will have optimized that page to target a specific set of search terms in your page content, title, etc.
