Do follow links are ones which pass on link juice to your website, no follow aren't totally useless but do follow are the ones you need to be looking for...

Both are important, if u will use only do-follow links google will consider it as spaming so for the blance u also have to use no-follow links.

If you want to update your link on the Google serp than Do follow links are more important than the no follow links. Do follow links are passed by the Google page rank.
