Is web development dying ...

ive been doing web design for a while now and it seems to be slowing down every other day i see something like wix or weebly or WordPress pop up effectivliy letting most users with a basic computer knowledge put of some pretty good and also badly optimised websites. It used to be mostly front end stuff drag and drop templates but now WordPress has moved the average user into eCommerce and back-end programming with a host of plugins and stuff. Is this a dying trade for web developers ?

Web development won't die because many companies required customised software and mobile application, if you are looking for a web designing than yes, you can say it dying because of automation.

Web development is more competitive compared to web designing and this is due to innovation and demand in creation of platform specially for mobile devices.

I think it will never die

i think you guys are right its not a question of dying , it may seem like that to an idividual because back in the day we had a few people who could code and they would get ALL the work, now many kids grow up learning coding so there is a much bigger pool of web developers , there are also alot more do it yourself sites and i think this all causes the work to be more divided amongst all the developers out there.

Mr Yoso yes i know im mixing my terms up here with web development and web design , but i agree with what you are saying about mobile app development its something that i am considering.

I think it's going to evolve into something more complicated. Web developers are going to get better and more complex to build websites that can outperform these web building apps that even cavemen can use. Good news for web development outsourcing.

Web development is so much more than just building websites with a custom-built CMS provided as a service.

No, Hell no, I would say it is not near it's peaking right now... You will need to wait for a few more years to state that.

not dear even you can say that can desktop applications are dying? Web will remain forever and forever and will improve day by day.

Web development is so much more than just building websites with a custom-built CMS provided as a service. No current builder is capable of doing a slightly more complex stuff rather than providing some ready-made modules and visual drag&drop builder.
