Meaning whatever a user does on your website (e.g. browses pages, downloads resources, purchases products) before they leave equals one session.

Session and visit are two different things. When a user clicks on a web page or website then it is called as visit and the time duration which the user stay called a session.

Session means a website user entered the website and spend a time in the website.

Your explanation is really very informative, just would like to add some value to it. One use can have multiple Sessions, but one session can't have multiple user.

For example:- If you are in the website for more than 30 minutes, new session will start. Similarly, if you are not active on the page and visit the page again than also another session will be created..
