This is not as easy as it's been asked. Do research around your keywords. Choose long tail keywords first as you can rank on them easily and later on work for generic keywords. Good quality of backlinks from authority website could help you meet your goal.

The most important thing is that website needs to be UNIQUE

I got my keyword ranking on 1st page of Google SERP by focusing on creating quality content. A little link building but more of relationship building. :)

if you want that your keyword of your website in to top off the first page in GOOGLE do proper SEO for your website and your site should have validate HTML,CSS & W3C

Getting first rank on google is not so easy. You have to work smartly to get to that place.
Do proper keyword research and select some low competition keywords.
Write high quality articles, do social shares, create some links to that post with proper anchor text, do some interlink.

Well, you can use Press release, social signals, Web2.0 links, and i am sure you will get good results.
