What is web spider ?

It is a program which is used by search engines like Google, yahoo, Bing. They create there own program and name it for example Google panda, Google penguin etc.

A web crawler (also called an online spider or web robot) could be a program or machine-controlled script that browses the planet Wide web during a organized, machine-controlled manner. This method is named web locomotion or spidering. several legitimate sites, especially search engines, use spidering as a method of providing up-to-date knowledge.
