What do merchants think of the paid inclusion change?

I can’t speak for everyone, but I think a significant majority of merchants would agree that this is only going to hurt them and will be an impetus for moving to other search engines.

Google switch to paid inclusion only a step in the right direction

Google will work with you if you have been negatively impacted by the Penguin update

It has been confirmed by the company itself that they will work with you if you reach out to them in good faith and do an honest audit of your site and attempt to remove the bad links.

Difficult question to answer as they target different things. Penguin focuses on over optimization while Panda is more concerned with originality and relevance. Sometimes the two can cross over...
