Facebook. Its easy to set up a fan page for your website business and easy to run campaigns to get likes. It has worked great for several of my websites. I also use twitter as well.

do all of them, I wouldn't waste a ton of time on directories, do a few and move on to forums and blogs. Make sure they are do follow links or they wont be counted in Google

very true, its one of the most important tools for your site. It is very helpful once you get to understand what the program can do for you. It takes a long time to learn it though.

I use both, it is real easy to create accounts on both. You should integrate both of them to your web site so when you create new content it automatically posts to FB and twitter.

Ya if you don't want to do it just outsource your content. You can outsource pretty cheap. and updates are important to keep your website ranked higher on Google.
