If you are just starting out, forget trying to rank in the search engines.

Social media is so much easier.

You can use Facebook groups or Google+ groups. Do a search
with your site's most important keywords to find relevant groups.

Use Twitter to find followers who would be interested in your
content. Use multiple keywords relevant to your site content in
your Twitter profile.

When you get 4 new followers with the same focus that is relevant
to one of your quality posts, tweet that post again but include their
4 Twitter IDs in the tweet. You will get targeted traffic for sure.

Also, establish a daily work routine where you post your quality content
to a variety (4-6) of relevant social bookmarking sites. Do not just post
your own content. The Internet THRIVES on the sharing of quality content
so do your part, and you will build your authority status.
