As far as my point of views are concerned - nothing works if your products or services does not live up to the expectations of the consumers.
If your product is good & fulfills a great need, it will surely succeed though need some time. And, if your product is not appropriate, it may attract huge audience for some time but will ultimately die out even after spending large amount on its marketing.
Facebook is a social platform with no-follow links, so not good on SEO aspects. Facebook ads & regular updates with attractive images will definitely increase the reach & drive traffic.
