In my words, After the recent Google updates, especially after the Panda and the Penguin updates, things have changed a lot. As far the matter of using anchor text for link building goes, you must take serious care about it now. Direction from Google regarding this is quite simple where they have asked to vary your anchor text. Previously we use to use the same anchor text to build all our links in the hope to rank higher which in certain cases did really show up. But now this system is not going to work rather Google is expecting variation in your anchor text.

For example: If one of your anchor text is 'search engine optimization', other possible variations could be 'search engine optimization tips', 'search engine optimization guide', 'search engine optimization techniques' etc. Hope the idea is clear.. If anybody know clearly, pls share your experience....
