Beware of Duplicate content, keep limited and good quality content, Optimize your website images should be your own should not be duplicate. FI you do this you don't have to worry about any updates or Algorithms.

The Google penguin update was an update released by google to target web spam. It mainly effects offsite factors such as backlinks and the anchor text used. Many private blog networks were hit by this update and so were sites that used too much of 1 type f anchor text links.
