Social media optimization is all about exposing your website on social media channels like facebook twitter, It helps you in building good social media reputation which is considered by Google while ranking your website in search results.
Social media marketing is also an internet marketing strategy which makes use of social media outlets to promote a product. Most importantly it helps you in product promotion and interaction with customers.

Social Media Marketing (SMM) on the other hand plays more of an active role which makes use of social media outlets to promote a product. Most importantly it helps you in product promotion and interaction with customers.
