Mobilegeddon is a name given by webmasters and web-developers to Google's algorithm update of April 21, 2015. The main effect of this update is to give priority to websites that display well on smartphones and other mobile devices.

The change is so significant that the date it happened is being referred to by a variety of names. Here at Search Engine Land, we’re calling it mobilegeddon, but sometimes it’s also referred to as mobilepocalyse, mopocalypse or mobocalypse.

The main effect of this update is to give priority to web sites that display well on smartphones and other mobile devices. The change does not affect searches made from a desktop computer or a laptop.

Mobilegeddon is an algorithm developed by google which is a mobile friendly update. Google has jumped into the mobile first index and is giving priority to those sites which are mobile friendly

There is a possibilty that those sites which are not responsive and not mobile friendly might get impacted due to this algorithm update. Those sites which are mobile friendly will certainly get a boost over those sites which are not responsive or mobile friendly
