HTML sitemap is a plain text sitemap used by browsers to surf through your webpages in a single list. They help to know about your webpages.

HTML sitemap is basically an overview of a site pages. If you are looking for a particular page of a website and unable to find that page. You'd go to the HTML sitemap page and find that particular page easily.

Sitemap is a way to tell the search engine about all the pages on your site. Sitemap has 2 types.

1. XML sitemap (which is used for search engine bot)
2. HTML sitemap (which is used for users)

The simplest explanation is that XML is primarily for the search engines while HTML is written for the users. A XML sitemap protocol is specifically intended for search engine spiders. At its root, XML is a file that includes all the behind the scenes activity on a web site.

An HTML sitemap allows site visitors to easily navigate a website. It is a bulleted outline text version of the site navigation. The anchor text displayed in the outline is linked to the page it references. Site visitors can go to the Sitemap to locate a topic they are unable to find by searching the site or navigating through the site menus.

The HTML site map is linked to from every single page of your website. It is also used for the user experience so when you write this type of program you have to think about the user. We need an HTML sitemap to give our users a unique experience by promoting user orientation.
