How can one rank the image oriented website for a particular keyword in SERP?
Adding the keywords in alt tag of the image is one of the solution and what else?

You should share your images on image sharing sites. Also you need to use alt tag with your targeted keywords. This can be helpful in getting ranking.

Using Alt tag is the only way to say to Google that an image is exist in your website and another option is star sharing your image in high PR rank site. In this scenario Pinterest will is the best site to share your images.
