Copy content exists when there is more than one rendition of a page ordered by the web crawlers. Where there are various variants of a page filed, it's troublesome for web indexes to choose what page to appear for an important pursuit inquiry.

Copy content happens all over the place. I have yet to experience a site of more than 1,000 pages that hasn't got no less than a minor copy content issue. It's something you have to watch out for at all times. It is fixable however, and the prizes can be copious

There are some steps you can take to proactively address duplicate content issues, and ensure that visitors see the content you want them to. Use 301s: If you've restructured your site, use 301 redirects ("RedirectPermanent") in your . htaccess file to smartly redirect users, Googlebot, and other spiders.

How to Avoid Duplicate Content on Your Site ?

There are four methods of solving the problem, in order of preference:
  • Not creating duplicate content.
  • Redirecting duplicate content to the canonical URL.
  • Adding a canonical link element to the duplicate page.
  • Adding an HTML link from the duplicate page to the canonical page.
