I am currently using facebook, twitter and linked in.

Facebook for the fanpage
Twitter to follow
and LinkedIn to message people to join fanpage and follow you in twitter.

I think linkedIN is most safe and secure than facebook and that is why LinkedIN is number one social media site. You can not add any unknown member in linkedin, if you know his email then you can invite them for your networks and in facebook you can send friend request to any person does not matter he is known or unknown.
