Sitemaps, as the name implies, are just a map of your site - i.e. on one single page you show the structure of your site, its sections, the links between them, etc. Sitemaps make navigating your site easier and having an updated sitemap on your site is good both for your users and for search engines. Sitemaps are an important way of communication with search engines.

You can submit sitemap of your website to bing webmasters tool, it will help the bing crawlers to index your site and then bing will deliver the traffic to your website. also try to use alt attribute for each image as bing gives preference to the image optimization

A sitemap tells Google which pages and files you think are important in your site, and also provides valuable information about these files. For example, when the page was last updated and any alternate language versions of the page.
