The purpose of Panda is to eliminate ‘low quality’ content, or in other words, spammy content trying to rank in the search engines.

Google Panda

There are certain algorithms that influence search rankings. Google Penguin is specific to the quality of links. Google Panda is a change to Google's search results ranking algorithm that was first released in February 2011. The change aimed to lower the rank of "low-quality sites" or "thin sites", in particular, "content farms", and return higher-quality sites near the top of the search results.

For sites that have lower quality content, they would likely find themselves negatively impacted by Panda. As a result, this causes higher quality content to surface higher in the search results.

panda is the algorithm run by google to diminish the presence of low quality websites and to provide only high quality websites in the google search engine result page. Some factors triggering panda are thin content, duplicate content, low quality content, high ad to content ratio.
