In the flat-rate model, the advertiser and publisher agree upon a fixed amount that will be paid for each click. In many cases the publisher has a rate card that lists the pay-per-click (PPC) within different areas of their website or network. These various amounts are often related to the content on pages, with content that generally attracts more valuable visitors having a higher PPC than content that attracts less valuable visitors. However, in many cases advertisers can negotiate lower rates, especially when committing to a long-term or high-value contract.
The flat-rate model is particularly common to comparison shopping engines, which typically publish rate cards.[5] However, these rates are sometimes minimal, and advertisers can pay more for greater visibility. These sites are usually neatly compartmentalized into product or service categories, allowing a high degree of targeting by advertisers. In many cases, the entire core content of these sites is paid ads.

There are four types of essential conversions you monitor,
1.Track when someone lands on particular page 2.Track when some one calls you after visiting your ads 3.Track when person download your software application 4.Track conversion that happen in offline

Same goes for the interstitial ads. They are usually in the form of image ads and pop up on the screen while a page is loading. Often there is a ticker along with the ad which tells you the number of seconds you have to wait for the page to load which users often click away. Once again, this is an ineffective ad type as hardly 0.1% of the people are going to click on them. There is another ad type which has become quite ineffective though you might consider it to be a controversial pick: banner ads.

There are many ways to target these ads based on keywords such as time of day, location, device, and so on. There are also a variety of ad extensions that can include locations, sitelinks, phone calls, reviews, and more.

Adwords basically offers three types of ads - search, display & product listing ads. Display ads further offer image & video ads. Product listing ads allow you to upload an xml feed of your products & target them to audiences dynamically based on what they're searching.
