What is the general definition of Personal Property?

Personal Property includes mobile homes located in mobile home parks. Business personal property is composed of tangible assets held for use in a business, other than real property. Taxable business personal property includes, but is not limited to, inventory, supplies, furniture, fixtures, equipment, leasehold improvements, and rental furnishings.

Personal property is a type of property which, in its most general definition, can include any asset other than real estate. The distinguishing factor between personal property and real estate is that personal property is movable. That is, the asset is not fixed permanently to one location as with real property such as land or buildings. Examples of personal property include vehicles, furniture, boats, collectibles, etc.

We can define personal property in simple words as '' the property of a person which physically exists and the person having the property have the legal ownership of that property.

Personal property is generally considered property that is movable,[1] as opposed to real property or real estate. In common law systems, personal property may also be called chattels or personalty. In civil law systems, personal property is often called movable property or movables – any property that can be moved from one location to another.

Personal property is also known as movable property, can include any asset other than real estate. Some personal property assets, such as furniture, clothing, and automobiles, tend to depreciate.

Personal property is movable and includes tangible (appliances, car, furniture, jewelry) and intangible (bonds, right to a benefit, shares or stocks) items whose ownership belongs to the individual. It is also called chattels.
