Black hat seo practice is when you are using shady and illegal ways to increase google rankings. It can be useful for a short period of time but in long term white hat is a lot better and safer way to improve your seo. Of course it is harder and slower way of improving SERP standings but time is your ally

Black Hat SEO - It is the technique which doesn't follow the search engine rules and guideline. Black hats will use any means at their disposal to gain rankings and because of that, they tend to get caught after a while.
White Hat SEO - It is the technique which follows all the guideline of the search engines. This method takes the time to get a good position but the site position will be static.
