A lost link is a link that no longer refers your site to rank on search engines. You can lose a link when a webmaster removes a backlink that was connected to your site, either created by you or naturally.

Simply put, it means the link no longer exists. If you use fully white-hat methods and manually build links through quality content, guest posts, and outreach, you shouldn’t run into this too often. But, the way many people build backlinks can result in some shady links.

Over time, the site that posted the link might delete it, it might simply go out of business, or it may replace it with a more valuable link. Sometimes, legitimate links can be removed, but most often you shouldn’t have to worry about this. The only situation I can imagine is if it was a limited time post (i.e. an interview or other media piece that might be later archived without the link).

Links which were not found when our index attempted to recrawl them from your existing backlink profile. When our crawler went back to that page, the link was no longer there.

Inbound Links (backlinks) - An incoming link from a page on another website back to your own site. ... Lost Links - Links which were not found when our index attempted to recrawl them from your existing backlink profile. When our crawler went back to that page, the link was no longer there.

Lost Links - Links which were not found when our index attempted to recrawl them from your existing backlink profile.
Lost or broken links – also known as “dead links” – typically occur when a website removes pages, or when URLs change during a site redesign or rebranding. In even simpler terms: Unlinked mentions are online references to your brand or company that are not linked to your site.
