There are two types of link do-follow & no-follow link. No-follow is that which google doesn't consider and not pass the link juice.!!

No follow is a link attribute that instructs search engine crawlers not to crawl the link. These links are hence not indexed in search engines. They are only helpful to generate traffic from various sources.

As others have mentioned, a "nofollow" backlink basically is a link that Google does not take in to consideration when determining your website's domain ranking / authority. Many people say that there's no benefit to building nofollow backlinks, that is completely false. Building nofollow links on niche industry related sites helps build authority in your particular industry and helps deliver quality referral traffic to your website. Any digital marketing / seo agency that strictly wants to build you "dofollow" links from, do not hire them. Their only goal is to quickly increase your keyword rankings, because most small business owners can understand that analytic metric. However, unless all of the dofollow links are truly organically generated, and are built on high-quality / industry related websites, you can quickly find your website being demoted by Google's new real-time RankBrain algorithm, or if too many low-quality dofollow links are built in a short amount of time, Google will flag your website as SPAM and slap it with penalties, mostly internal penalties that will be difficult to identify and get out of.

No follow is HTML code that can be added to a link which tells search engine spiders that the link should not be followed.if you have a lot of links from high quality your page will have a better chance of ranking higher in search engines.

A no follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page’s favor, does not boost PageRank, and doesn’t help a page’s placement in the SERPs. No follow links get no love. Theirs is a sad and lonely life.

No follow link can't boost your keyword's ranking.
But, you need to add some no follow link for backlink.
Just mix it with do follow link.

No follow are those links which google are not able to be crawl and this type of links have relation no follow in their HTML tags this are seems useless in SEO however no follow links of powerfull authority website are sometime usefull like wikipedia etc.

Nofollow(HTML Tags) provides a way for webmasters to tell search engines "Don't follow links on this page" or "Don't follow this specific link."

A link which is not follow by google bot is called no follow link. Visitor can only viewing that link. you can improve traffic by that link.
