In deed google is the best if we talking about results, but more popularity get new search engine which is DucksDucks, and witch (how ensure its creator) does not track users and does not collect data on them. What the recent information about the projects prism and general Internet spying by Google is a huge plus.

You need to remember that, although relevant, Google tracks all of your information. So if you happen to be a mass killer or planning a terrorist attack you are easily tracked.

Google is the best but their algorithm is VERY complex. If you do SEO then it can be very hard to get good rankings with popular niches. and Google keep changing the algorithm and you have to do more work related SEO, to be on top position.
