Black hat and white hat SE techniques

It was only last week when my website was no more available because I was unknowingly using some unethical SEO techniques. I turned to this forum and started to read about SEO techniques. I have learned about legitimate SEO techniques, which are called white hat SEO, and I am working on it right now. My last used SEO techniques were black hat SEO which were really unethical. I am really thankful to this forum and the members. Now, can anyone tell me more about different SEO techniques? I really want to make sure that I am not unknowingly using black hat SEO again.

Certain SEO experts claim to be able to use the best of both the White and Black Hat approaches, creating decent content that is rich in keywords and cross-links. In a way, Gray Hat SEO attempts to provide a low-risk, medium-budget solution.

Different SEO techniques:
-Build a great web site.
-Make SEO-friendly URLs.
-Do keyword research at the start of the project.
-Write for users first.
-Create great, unique content.
-Build links intelligently.
-Use press releases wisely.

The controversy regarding Black Hat SEO techniques and White Hat SEO techniques has existed since search engine optimization emerged. White Hat SEO is the term given to search engine optimization practices carried out in line with Google’s Webmaster guidelines, whereas black hat SEO techniques fall outside those guidelines.

The most effective way to increase your search engine rankings is get more relevant links from high authority sites. That is, try to get more natural links as they are an indication of great content.
