EMD = Exact Match Domain
It is where your domain is the exact same as your keyword. For example if your keyword is persian antique rugs your domain would be persianantiquerugs.com

PMD = Partial Match Domain
A domain name combination of keyword search and business name

Perfect definition. EMD and PMD beneficial for ranking for sure, but you still need good quality website. Otherwise Google's latest algorithm change will vanish your EMD or PMD website.
