both are great but I prefer PHP because the beauty lies in its simplicity.

PHP is very easy to learn, But asp.net has more web programming methods to apply the websites. I recommend the asp.net is best for web development.

PHP is better language for developing web site as well as fast. PHP is fast growing technology and many developers are moving in php technology

PHP vs ASP.net

I would like to suggest PHP is better than ASP.
Because PHP is simple and easy understandable language when compare to other scripting languages.

ASP is stand for the Active server page and php stand for Personal home page. Both of the Language is Server site scripting Language. Asp and php is run on the webserver. Asp and php is used to creating the website of the site.

ASP runs on Microsoft servers and it does not run on Non-Microsoft servers. PHP runs on every time of every time server in which CGI runs

ASP.NET is the best,
Reasons:
1. compare to php ASP.NET is Secure.
2. More Language Support
3. Speed
4. Its Cross-Platform
5. hierarchical set of class libraries.

ASP, Active Server Pages is a sort of plan that workings with Microsoft alongside IIS or Internet Information Server. PHP or Hypertext Preprocessed runs by Linux or UNIX server.
