The most important thing by Googles updated algorithm is Content. Tour content should be unique, subject oriented. Other thing is backlinks. These two factors do lot for ranking

In order to get quality backlinks, you have to choose quality site ( high PR is prefered), try to post links in this by contributing to these sites then you wil get quality backlinks
