Excess back links means increase back links to your website. Back links much important role to improve your site page ranking in various search engine. If your website higher page ranking then automatically you achieved targeted traffic on your site.

You are involved in a link exchange, or using some software to create tens or hundreds of backlinks every day... Google will see that something is fishy with your site, and will ban it. Especially with new sites, it is not going to be beneficial in the long run. Slow and steady high quality links will win the race.

Anything in excess is deemed not so good. Similarly too many back links water out the effectiveness of your SEO efforts. Ideally stick to making your back links seem organic and natural, because that in the long run will help your SEO better.

Excessive link building only means that these links are unnatural. Therefore search engines will consider it as link scheme, especially if it appears as spam you'll get penalized.
