How to improve ranking?
I have a website that is indexed well with a good number of backlinks. For certain keyword, I cannot get it to the first page. But have backlinks. Please suggest some strategies.

You have to focus on the On-Page seo. And used the desired keywords as much as possible. This will help in getting good page ranking.

If you want to improve your website ranking then need to first follow the On page Procedure on every webpage of website, then use the high priority back link building techniques.

In google analytics first see is there any warning or error regarding any pages. If so solve those errors and fix warnings. as they are hurdles to improve ranking.

It also depends on how strong your competitor is. For some keywords you may never get into the first page that's why long tail is so important.
