twitter don't make any backlinks for your site but it can give you traffic especially if you have lots of followers

Yes! many friends of mine prefer Facebook but i do prefer Twitter, i got 75% of my traffic from Twitter.

twitter is useful in getting traffic. But as per my thinking when you talk about SEO, twitter has less impact. its links are no follow
