Some forums are now saying that if a site you get a link from starts selling links, the punishment could be as severe as 50% of their PageRank. And all the outgoing links featured on that site will also get scrutinized.

depends now because of the updates on google, some of those forum links dont work.

that's right. if you have paid links, google will penalize your site because google has updated penguin 2.0.
