Most if not all search engines have guidelines prohibiting the use of doorway pages, or at least the general idea of them. This sort of content is considered "spammy", and spammy SEO practices might work in the short-term but in the long run, they can get your site flagged for review and censure. Plus, using these kind of techniques tends to bring down the general trustworthiness of your site

Doorways are sites or pages created to rank highly for specific search queries. They are bad for users because they can lead to multiple similar pages in user search results, where each result ends up taking the user to essentially the same destination. They can also lead users to intermediate pages that are not as useful as the final destination.

Doorway pages are basic HTML pages that are altered to a few particular keywords or phrases, and they are customized to be obvious just by particular search engines and their spiders. The purpose of these doorway pages is to trap the search engines into giving these sites higher rankings.

Quite simply, doorway pages are pages that have been optimised to rank highly on the search engines for one or two particular keywords.
The search engines soon got fed up with the huge amount of doorway pages that were filling their databases, and started removing them and sometimes banning the sites that used them.

Doorways are sites or pages created to rank highly for specific search queries. They are bad for users because they can lead to multiple similar pages in user search results, where each result ends up taking the user to essentially the same destination. They can also lead users to intermediate pages that are not as useful as the final destination.

Here are some examples of doorways:
  • Having multiple domain names or pages targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page
  • Pages generated to funnel visitors into the actual usable or relevant portion of your site(s)
  • Substantially similar pages that are closer to search results than a clearly defined, browseable hierarchy
