Schema markup is code (semantic vocabulary) that you put on your website to help the search engines return more informative results for users. If you've ever used rich snippets, you'll understand exactly what schema markup is all about.

Schema Markup is code that you put on your website to help the search engine return more informative results for users. If you implement it on your site, that doesn't mean it'll show on search results. It totally depends on Google.

Schemas are used to markup certain elements on your site, which you want a search engine to recognize easily. Marking up means adding certain lines of code( HTML tags) to help the search engine easily understand the content on your site. This content could be a information on a product, information about an article, category of a business, office addresses of the business etc. This helps search engines to show better search results.
