The popular languages today are: Ruby, Python, PHP, Objective-C, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, .Net, C/C++. Google all of those.

programming language for RPG design
There are many optional language to develop this game. You can use php,Ruby,flash with actionscript,or ASP.Net with Ajax/jquery.

There are many server side scripting languages like C, PHP, Ruby, Python, Java Server Pages, ColdFusion, ASP, and Perl, PHP. You can use any of them according to your need, I think you should go with PHP. It will give you the best and easy scripting.
