You should try and get backlinks from high PR sites offering content that is in sync with your site content. You can opt for Article writing/ Guest blogging/ Blog commenting, etc. Your backlinks must seem natural, and not manipulative/ spammy in any way.

Create hyperlink of your site in another site to get backlinks.This can be done by submitting your site to bookmarking sites,forum sites, and do article submission on your site and blog commenting.

Hello,
For backlinks, First you need to do On-Page Optimization of your website, after that you need to do Off-Page Optimization. In off-page Optimization you need to do Directory submission, Blog commending, Article submission, Forum posting & Blog Posting as well as Guest Posting in High-PR site List. Thanking You Brett J. Till now, some of the old backlink creation techniques are still working..so go for forum posting, blog commenting etc. But now-a-days, quality is worth rather than quantity...

Google, as usual, continue trying to make its algorithm powerful enough to detect spam quickly and penalize those who are trying to break Google guideline rules in link building process. So, it is a time to understand what Google wants, and try to build high quality backlinks that provide unique and relevant information to user's queries.
