SEO is all about to rank the targeted keywords. We place our links at various sites with our specific search phrases. If there are no search phrases then how will we search for any site in search engines.

Keyword is the most important in seo but not ranking is not totally dependent on keyword. We can get high ranking by smartly selecting a keyword
