If you want promote your site then both options are good. The difference only that the article has some excessive words to write but bookmarks can be easy than article submission

I think article is the best, If you can write informative article with a relevant title according to user then otherwise you can social bookmarking.

Both mehtods would be good but in bookmarking i would prefer you "StumbleUpon" and Article marketing..Ezinearticles.com would be good

If you are looking for optimization in terms of increasing organic traffic, I prefer article submission. If you want traffic (sudden) bookmarking can help you a lot.However, to improve search ranking, backlinks from articles help more than bookmarking.

In my opinion Social bookmarking and Article submission are the best methods for your site optimization. Both methods are giving you quality back links from high page rank sites. Using Article submission, your site will get back links and traffic from different destinations. Submit your in high page rank Social bookmarking sites.
