It is bad idea my friend. If your goal for google ranking - it’s bad idea. Sending fake traffic to your site won't increase you rankings, that's obvious.

Most of the time the two website who exchange there traffic don't belong to same niche. In this case both of you will loose traffic without any action. Secondly Search Engines don't like it.
Traffic exchange will only possible when both of you guys will have links of each others website and it is known as link exchange and Seach Engine don't like Link Exchange/Two way linking. Only go with one way linking.

it is not bad but you have to get the good and reliable source to generate backlinks. if exchange id for life time then it definitely helps you too greate

Any two websites who exchange their link, and don't belong to the same niche. In this case, both of that sites lose their traffic without any action.
