Lately, Alison Dempsey from Parenting Magazine/Parenting.com presented her ideas at SMX Social Media Marketing. Here are a few points from her presentation.

Reasons of sharing:

1. To bring valuable and entertaining content to the lives of those they care about
2. We share to define ourselves to others
3. We share to grow, nourish our relationships with others
4. We share for self-fulfillment
5. We share to get the word out about causes (sometimes brands) we believe in

6 Sharing Personas

1. Altruists – driven by their desire to help others.
2. Careerists – to maintain a strong network of personal and professional contacts.
3. Hipsters – youngsters, have only known life in the info age. Sharing content online is important part of their identity.
4. Boomerangs – sharing in search of reactions, for what comes back to them.
5. Connectors – sharing to stay connected.
6. Selectives – older and traditional people, sharing info they think will be of value, with one or more specific people in mind.
