It means that the page you are trying to reach cannot be found.

The HTTP 404 Not Found Error means that the webpage you were trying to reach could not be found on the server. It is a Client-side Error which means that either the page has been removed or moved and the URL was not changed accordingly, or that you typed in the URL incorrectly.

Google discovers content by following links from one page to another. Generally, a Not Found status error (usually a 404 HTTP status code) is returned when Googlebot attempts to visit a page that doesn’t exist—either because you deleted or renamed it without redirecting the old URL to a new page, or because of a typo in a link.

404 means your inner page not exist on your site, use 301 to redirect it no other page.

A 404 error is an HTTP status code that means that the page you were trying to reach on a website couldn't be found on their server.

So, keep in mind that the 404 error may show up in just about any way imaginable depending on what website it's shown from.

Error 404 means that the server could not find the web page...it is called also HTTP standard response code,the meaning of that is server unable to connect with user..
