Hi,
the search engine friendly URL that you want the search engines to treat as authoritative. In other words, a canonical URL is the URL that you want visitors to see.

Thanks,
sonvi.belani

a canonical URL is the URL that you want visitors to see. Quite often canonical URLs were used to describe the homepage. The typical example used is that most people treat the following URLs as the same: www.example.com. example.com

The rel=canonical element, often called the “canonical link”, is an HTML element that helps webmasters prevent duplicate content issues. It does this by specifying the “canonical URL”, the “preferred” version of a web page. Using it well improves a site's SEO.

Hello,

the search engine friendly URL that you want the search engines to treat as authoritative. In other words, a canonical URL is the URL that you want visitors to see.

Quite often canonical URLs were used to describe the homepage. The typical example used is that most people treat the following URLs as the same:

EXAMPLE.COM
EXAMPLE.COM/INDEX.HTML
EXAMPLE.COM/HOME.ASP

One of the ways that search engine deal with duplicate content is by allowing you to define which page is the authoritattive or "Canonical" version of the page with the canonical link in the head of the document.

For example, every directory on your server probably has a default page called something like default.html

Thank you!

Happy to help you.

A canonical URL is an authoritatively correct URL for a resource. Canonicalization is the process of choosing the best URL when there are several options.

An authoritative connection component is a HTML component that enables website admins to anticipate copy content issues by indicating the "sanctioned" or "favored" rendition of a site page as a major aspect of site improvement.

This article depicts how you can utilize accepted URLs to enhance connection and positioning signs for content accessible through various URL structures or by means of syndication.
