an eight-legged predatory arachnid with an unsegmented body consisting of a fused head and thorax and a rounded abdomen. Spiders have fangs which inject poison into their prey, and most kinds spin webs in which to capture insects.

The spiders or crawlers are google's software, which is used to crawl the website. The spiders will crawl the website and stores the information in the database. When the user enters the query in the search engine, the crawler will fetch the answer from the database and display it in the search engine

Spiders are also known as bots, robots and crawlers. These are programs developed and programmed to scour the web automatically for various reasons most notably they are used to index web pages, for spam detection, and the like. They are also known as web robots, web crawlers, bots, internet bots.
Bots are commonly associated with cyber criminals stealing data, identities, credit card numbers and worse. But bots can also serve good purposes. Separating good bots from bad can also make a big difference in how you protect your company’s website and ensure that that your site gets the Internet traffic it deserves.

A spider is a program that visits Web sites and reads their pages and other information in order to create entries for a search engine index. The major search engines on the Web all have such a program, which is also known as a "crawler" or a "bot."
Spiders are typically programmed to visit sites that have been submitted by their owners as new or updated. Entire sites or specific pages can be selectively visited and indexed. Spiders are called spiders because they usually visit many sites in parallel at the same time, their "legs" spanning a large area of the "web." Spiders can crawl through a site's pages in several ways. One way is to follow all the hypertext links in each page until all the pages have been read.

Both spiders and insects are invertebrates, but spiders are not insects. Insects have a head, thorax and abdomen, and the thorax has three pairs of legs. They also eyes, antennae and mouthparts, the Explorit Science Center website points out. ... The group to which they belong is called the Insecta."Oct 19, 2012

Search engine apply a algorithm that can be referred to as a spider which follows an algorithmic procedure to find out which sites to crawl and how often. As a search engine's crawler moves via your site it will also identify and record any links it finds on these pages & add them to a list that will be crawled later.

Spiders belong to a group of animals called “arachnids”. Scorpions, mites, and ticks are also part of the arachnid family. Arachnids are creatures with two body segments, eight legs, no wings or antennae and are not able to chew.
