When Google visits your website for tracking purposes. This process is done by Google’s Spider crawler.
After crawling has been done, the results get put onto Google’s index (i.e. web search).

Crawling is the process by virtue of which the search engines gather information about websites on world wide web (new / old / updates etc.) .
Indexing generally refers to getting your web pages (or other various forms of content from PDFs to videos) indexed in Google & other search engines. A search engine will crawl your website in search of content to add to its index.

Crawling - While searching any information in the search engine using a particular keyword, the search engine spider/bot find any meaningful information on any page related to that keyword this process is termed as crawling.
Indexing - Indexing means the information searched by many people and find it useful then google stored it permanently in the databases.

Crawling basically means following a path.
In the SEO world, crawling means following your links and “crawling” around your website. When bots come to your website (any page), they follow other linked pages also on your website. The way we stop crawling certain parts of our site is by using the Robots.txt file. Google Indexing In layman’s terms, indexing is the process of adding webpages into Google search. Crawling is the process or reading through your webpage source by search engine spiders. They provide a cache certificate after a successful crawl. Indexing is updating the cached webpages in search engine database. Indexed webpages are now ready for search engine rankings.

Crawling - the search engine bot find a relevant content according to the user query is called crawling
Indexing - Google store webpages permanently in the databases.

Crawling and Indexing is the way search engines work on websites. For me there is no big difference.
